Chapter 7
In this reading it talked about the
different types for electronic communication such as emails, social networks,
IM’s, texts, blogs, etc. and how it is very important on how you word what you
are saying because when you communicate online you are loosing the connection
between you and your audience or who ever you are speaking to. And how each
genre of electronic communication represents how formal you want to come off. For
example they talk about how emails are typically a very formal way of
communicating with clients when handling business, and need to be written
effectively.
Chapter 8
This was a
short read but just as affective as chapter 7. In this chapter is broke down
how to write an effective message using three steps. First to state your
request upfront, which is telling your audience/ reader what you want off the
bat so that they don’t get confused on what you are trying to ask them and achieve
from the message. Second you want to explain/ justify what you are asking from
them. This is where you want to explain why it’s important to you and them. And
Lastly you want to state what you want them to do exactly this can be restating
what you already said and adding on giving them specific details. This was a
great read because It was almost like an outline for our email we have to
create. And knowing these things makes writing the email much easier.
Overall
This weeks reading was very effective
for what we are going to be talking about in class regarding our formal email
to ask a professional in our field for an interview. Reading these assignments
gave me helpful tips so that I can come off as professional and are worth their
time to talk to.
